That is when a breakdown occurs. Many women lack the space, tools or expertise needed to create the crafts they see online. Owner Nancy Duin decided to create an easier option for Kansas City-area women to finish craft projects they pinned online. Duin is opening Kansas City’s first DIY craft studio of its kind, Pintervention, to offer everyone a chance for a “pinning intervention.” Pintervention opens September 12 with a Grand Opening Party! The studio is located at 14872 Metcalf Ave. in Overland Park. The studio will offer classes in a variety of crafting disciplines, including paper crafting, essential oil mixing, jewelry making, home decor, among many others.
“I’m really excited to offer a fun, relaxed environment where women can come together and create projects that they will actually use, and have time to socialize and connect while completing their projects," Duin said.
Each class will have an instructor leading the crafters through their projects, offering guidance and encouragement along the way. While the customers complete their projects, they can chat with friends, have some wine, and enjoy a snack from an a la carte menu that will include selections from a neighboring business, 3 Women and an Oven. Pintervention currently has four instructors, each specializing in a different crafting field.
In addition to regularly scheduled DIY classes, the studio offers Girl Scout workshops and weekly toddler time classes led by a former special education teacher. Customers can also schedule private parties for birthdays, bridal and baby showers, corporate team-building outings or just a night out with friends.
