Earth Day, Arbor Day and Going Green Events Around Johnson County

It's time to celebrate Earth Day, Arbor Day and Going Green around town. Earth Day is officially April 22nd and Arbor Day is April 28th.

Saturday, April 14th

Little ones 3+ can make and take a free Earth Day themed craft at Lakeshore Learning in Merriam. FREE.

Tuesday, April 17th

Toddlers and preschoolers will have a ball getting ready for Earth Day at Fat Brain Toys at Prariefire in Overland Park. After an Earth Day themed story they will enjoy digging in the dirt for mini animal figures and then enjoy yummy Oreo 'dirt' snack cups. FREE.

Saturday, April 21

National Parks - Get in free from April 21 - 23

Overland Park Recycling Extravaganza - Document shredding, electronics, household items and more.

Earth Day Downtown Overland Park - Learn how to reduce food waste, enjoy kids activities and more.

Kids Club at Michaels Stores - Kids 3+ can do an age-appropriate Earth Day craft. Register for ages 3-8 ($2) or age 6+ ($5).

Earth Day / Arbor Day Celebration - Help clean up the Gardner Greenway Corridor and enjoy lunch and giveaways. RSVP. Gardner

Sunday, April 22

Earth Day at Natural Grocers - Get a free reusable tote while supplies last.

Earth Day Celebration at Prarie Oak Nature Center - Stop by to enjoy family-friendly activities with an emphasis on the "Four R's - Reducing, Reusing, Recycling and Rotting

Friday, April 28

Arbor Day Celebration at Peterson Park - 2nd graders from Highland Elementary will help plant a tree, get a sapling and more! Fairway.

Daffodil Day - Fun for the entire family! Nature activities, crafts, games, face painting, live performances, concessions and more! Spring Hill.

Tree Planting Ceremony at the Arboretum - also free sapling giveaway. Overland Park.
