Summer Camps and Classes at Leawood Parks & Recreation

The City of Leawood offers a variety of summer camps and classes designed to help each participant engage in making lasting memories. Get into summer before summer boredom sets in by registering your child for an adventure through activities, wilderness exploration, skill development & learning.

Outdoor Camp Age 9-12

Leawood's Full-Day Outdoor Camp is for kids ages 9-12. This camp will feature a unique full-day adventure in an outdoor setting. The campers will start their day in the Leawood Community Center, with the remainder of the day spent outdoors in Leawood's parks or other fun locations around town. At​ the end of the day, they will return to the community center for parent pickup. Campers will enjoy activities such as hiking, basketball, soccer, arts and crafts and daily trips to the pool for "free swim". Weekly field trips will take campers to fun and exciting locations. Possible trips include: Worlds of Fun,
Oceans of Fun, Powerplay, Skyzone or Ironwoods Challenge Course. All activities are supervised by Leawood summer camp staff. Five - 7 hour sessions.

Half-Day Nature Camp Ages 5 to 10 years

This camp is intended for younger elementary age children. Campers will trek through the habitats and environments at Ironwoods Park including the creek, pond, prairie and woods. The naturalists will see firsthand the animals, rocks, trees and bugs that live in eastern Kansas. We will investigate weather, water, ecology and other aspects of our natural world. Your child will truly benefit from this camp learning lessons in science, group interaction, and nature exploration. Five 3-hour classes.
