By Gail Keller - Publisher Macaroni Kid JoCo September 5, 2018

Happy Rosh Hashanah to all our Jewish friends who will be celebrating the Jewish New Year 5779 which begins on the evening of Sunday, September 9th. Rosh Hashanah is the beginning of the High Holy Days and is followed 10 days later by Yom Kippur, the day of atonement. The Jewish New Year is full of mitzvahs (good deeds) and yummy traditional and sweet foods and is one of the most important holidays in the Jewish calendar.

Rosh Hashanah means "Head of the Year." It is a joyous holiday and a day of prayer.

One popular tradition for this holiday is eating apples dipped in honey to symbolize "a sweet new year." Other sweets include honey cake and round raisin challah bread.

We have some yummy recipes and fun crafts on our Pinterest board. L'Shana Tova!
