It was the early Fall of 2004 when we arrived in Overland Park from Long Island, NY. We bought a home a short hop from Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead. I can remember how excited we were taking Ben (20 months old) in the stroller. We got to the gate and I was getting my wallet out. There was an older gentleman at the turnstile and I asked how much it was to get in. He said 'it's free" and I fell in love with Overland Park. Nothing in New York was free, well if it was, then you had to pay for parking. I can hardly believe that my little boy is now 185 months old. The Farmstead now charges a small admission fee, but there have been so many upgrades and added features over the past 13 years.
I have so many fond memories of visiting the Farmstead with our kids over the years, as I know probably everyone in the Kansas City metro has.
I also have fun memories of Adult celebrations at Deanna Rose.
This Saturday, May 5th is the 40th birthday celebration of Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead. The festivities will take place throughout the day from 9 am to 5 pm and are included with $2/person admission. Featured activities include:
- Chicken Egg Hunt
- Wood Carver: Artist TJ Jenkins

- Organized Games
- and more.
Get out and make some memories!
