Important Update - Sticking Together - Where We Go From Here

Coronavirus means the situation is changing quickly

March 18, 2020

Hi, My name is Katlyn Fuller and I am the publisher/owner of Macaroni Kid JoCo.  I live here in Kansas City and this is my job making newsletters and finding fun events and local resources for your family.  I wanted to give everyone an update as things are changing quite rapidly.  Everyone is having a tough time dealing with the new norm of staying home and social distancing, especially my 4 year old who loves to go "Bye Bye" and does not understand why we can't go out.  Please do not unsubscribe as I am working on adding tons of fun things and events you can do at home. We need to support our community and stick together during these rough times.

These are uncertain times, and things seem to be changing by the day -- if not by the hour -- with coronavirus and the reaction to it as health officials and the government trying to slow its spread.

Events are being canceled and I have marked them as such on the events calendar as I hear about them. But I always recommend verifying event details with the venue before you attend, and it is especially important to do so right now as events may be canceled with little to no notice.

Now with social distancing being the new (temporary) norm, I have been adding online attendance events to the calendar.  I will now be your new go to guide on how to have fun at home! Please be patient as I am trying my best to find as many fun things for your family. With the coronavirus going on, our calendar will not be as full as it normally is. When this finally blows over, everything will go back to normal and the calendar will be stocked full of events. Everyone will be very excited to get out and attend events.

Another new change to the calendar is that any activity you can do at home and support our local businesses will go up on the calendar. Normally I do not include any activity over $10 as I want everyone to feel like they can participate, but we need to support all local business to survive right now.

Please watch the CDC, the KS Department of Health, and the Johson County/Olathe Health Department for the latest news.

And, of course, please take care of yourselves and your family. (But leave some toilet paper for the rest of us.)
