Step Into Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood: A Grr-ific Exhibit

Visit favorite characters at Crown Center’s kid-friendly, summer activity

June 4, 2024

This summer, Kansas City kids have the chance to visit a very special place… the neighborhood of Daniel Tiger and his friends from the PBS Kids television series created by Fred Rogers Productions.

In Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood: A Grr-ific Exhibit – now open at Crown Center – children enter the world of Daniel Tiger and friends to play, sing, explore, and pretend. Through immersive experiences, kids can work together to solve problems, use their imaginations to transform their surroundings, and play along with Daniel’s singable strategies as they learn life’s little lessons.

The exhibit brings to life themes such as community, communication, and emotions, which helps young children understand their feelings and those of their neighbors.

Children can engage in some of the activities that Daniel and his friends love, such as role playing, dress up, and music making. They can put on costumes of community helpers, such as a police officer or doctor; wear handheld masks of the various neighborhood characters; and don a wearable vehicle or sit in a small-scale trolley.

Other activities in Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood: A Grr-ific Exhibit include:

  • Compose a song or play along with one-of-a-kind instruments
  • Visit the Post Office and sort, deliver, and receive letters
  • Create stories through the Movable Character Mural
  • Step inside the Clock Factory to play with a variety of clocks
  • Write or draw thank-you notes and put them on the Thank You Tree
  • Cozy up with a good book in O the Owl’s Reading Nest

This exhibit will be most entertaining for children ages 2 to 6. Most families spend 30 minutes to 1 hour in Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood: A Grr-ific Exhibit, but visitors are welcome to stay and play as long as they’d like.

Open through Monday, Sept. 2, you can experience the playful world of Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood: A Grr-ific Exhibit all summer long in the Crown Center Showplace on Level 1 of the Crown Center Shops. Admission is FREE.
