Leawood Parks & Recreation is hosting the 5th Annual Duck Derby, sponsored by the Bank of Blue Valley on Saturday, June 17 at Gezer Park starting at 10:00am. Enjoy the sounds of Dino O’Dell from 10:00-11:30. Face painters will be on-site and Corner Bakery Cafe will be providing refreshments.The duck derby will start at 11:30am with up to 500 ducks racing to the finish line. Duck entries may be purchased in advance by stopping by the Parks and Recreation office, located at 4800 Town Center Drive, or by phone at (913) 663-9159. Prizes will be awarded for entries who finish in first, second and third place. Prizes will be posted on the duck derby webpage (http://www.leawood.org/parks/duckderby.aspx) by June 1. Entries may be purchased as follows: One entry for $5.00, two entries for $8.00 or three entries for $10.00. The field is limited to 500 entries. If 500 entries have not been sold by race day, entries will be available for purchase on site until maximum entries are sold or until 15 minutes prior to race time.A portion of the proceeds will go to the Leawood Foundation to fund future projects.
